Gearing Up for Senior Year – College Essay and Application Camp
This session is designed for rising high school seniors who are in the final stages of determining where they will apply to in the fall. As this session is very hands-on, it is intended only for students and enrollment is limited.  A lap top is required. Topics include:

·         The Essay – Students will be introduced to brainstorming activities for developing a personal statement and will walk away with a draft in hand. Discussion will include short answer tips, common mistakes to avoid, as well as best ways to ensure that a student’s personality comes through. 
·         The Application – Students will be introduced to the various types of college applications, expectations and requirements.  Students will establish online accounts and will be guided as they complete the Common Application while in attendance.
·         Letters of Recommendation – Students will learn who to ask and how to facilitate the process.
·         Senior Year Timeline – Students will learn how to put together a game plan for managing the application process.

College Planning Process – Part I

This session is ideal for high school sophomores or juniors and their parents. Topics included:
·         An overview of current admission trends
·         The admissions cycle – what to focus on at specific times of the year
·         Tools for self-assessment - developing a realistic college list for you
·         Defining a challenging curriculum – how admissions counselors review your transcript
·         Tips for showcasing your talents and accomplishments – how do you stand out on a national scale
·         Standardized test recommendations – when and why
·         Affordability and the college search – dispelling the myths on cost
College Planning Process – Part II
This session is an ideal companion to the introductory seminar and is for high school juniors and their parents. Advanced topics include:
·         Making the most of your college visits
·         Summer Enrichment Activities – start planning now
·         Interviews – learn how to toot your own horn in a gracious way
·         Resume Development
·         Developing a College Admissions Calendar
·         Exploring your options: Early Action vs. Early Decision vs. Regular Decision
·         Strategies for the financial aid process
The Basics – Thinking Ahead
This seminar is designed for parents with students in the 8th and 9th grades who want to have a better understanding of the admissions process as well as affording college. This session will serve as an introduction to the complexities of today’s admission trends in order to develop strength of curriculum and distinct extracurricular profiles to ensure that your child is well-prepared for today’s playing field.


If you have attended the seminar and would like to hire us for full consulting services, we offer a 15% discount on the comprehensive fee to those attendees.  We take on a limited number of students per year.Participants must register to attend.  Any additional students will have to register separately.
