Surprised? With so much attention in the press focused on the top tier schools and their plummeting admit numbers, many high school students would be led to believe that no one is being admitted anywhere. Not true. If you look beyond the hype, you will find that the majority of colleges across the United States admit a more reasonable amount of applicants.

Here are a few examples of tentative 2010 numbers:

Davidson College – 30%
Emory University – 32%
Carnegie Mellon – 34%
Oberlin College – 34%
New York University – 36%
University of North Carolina – 37%
Macalester College – 38%
Gettysburg College - 40%
Franklin & Marshall College – 43%
Dickinson College – 47%
University of Georgia – 48%
University of Michigan – 48%
Fordham University – 49%
University of Washington – 54%
University of Redlands – 57%
Boston University – 58%
